Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I recently purchased a matched Quad of Svetlana Winged-C 6550.When comparing the sound of these tubes to a Quad of JJ Blue Glass KT-88, their presentation is rolled-off at the top.
I prefer the JJ KT-88's over these Svetlana's.
Can anyone help me to understand why the major sonic differences between 6550 and KT-88?
I seem to be a KT-88 person myself.
The 6550's seem too rolled off at the top. Could these be better in Guitar amps vs. Hi-Fi amps?
With more than 60mA and 500 Volts on the plates, the Svetlana's start to show signs of stress. The KT-88 just keep asking for more.
