If you can find a true Raytheon black plate 6cg7 I think you will be very pleased. The sylvania black plate 6cg7 with a chrome divider is much more common and a pretty good tube. Maybe you have become accustomed to the top end energy of the 6dj8 family and/or your operating point is better for them than the 6cg7.
