Why not more new EL84 based amps?

I'm relatively new to tubes and have recently discovered the EL84 tube in a Scott 222c. I really like the qualities of this output tube compared with others I have tried. It seems that in my system, the EL84 amp gives me everything I am looking for including great dynamics, top to bottom extension, good dimensionality and soundstage, excellent rhythm and pacing, and most importantly to me -- rich harmonics and tone color.

I know that Manley uses the EL84 in the Stingray, and I am looking into that amp. But I haven't found many other manufacturers who use the EL84. Seems like 6550/KT88, EL34, and 300B are all the rage in amp design.

Am I missing something about the EL84? Anyone else feel this way about the EL84?

Thanks,

Dave
