My speakers are North Creek Eska's, not nearly as sensitive as your Gallo's. The most compelling features of the T8 are its amazing speed (no output transformer) and clarity. I was listening last night to a live Bob Seeger LP, "Nine Tonight." Even with the volume cranked up and the full boogie dance going on, you could hear Bob's every vocal nuance in the mix. By contrast, I've heard this on my downstairs system (Magneplanars driven by Classe amp) and it sounds like tumultuous mush when the volume gets that high. The good news is you can find Transcendent T8's pretty cheap on Audiogon. Some of the former owners are going for the new "BEAST" units and selling their old ones. These are very stable designs, easy on tubes, and quite reliable.
If you can find someone nearby who will let you audition one, I think you'll be pleased!
Just my $.02
