I'm driving mine with SET monoblocks (845 outputs, EL-34 drivers) that the designer/builder rates at 12 wpc, but these are overbuilt, with huge trannies. I have never hit the volume limits in my 18 x 40' room with these wondrous beasts, although I am using a HSU 500 w subwoofer amp on the second voice coils and the SETs were designed to roll off at 42 Hz.I was told by one of the participants that some of the final pre-production testing of the Ref 3s was done using a custom-designed 10 wpc SS amp, so they will obviously work fine with low-powered amps -- if the amps are good enough.
