Devore Silverbacks.....

Just swapped out my Avantgarde Duo Omegas for some Devore Silverbacks in anticipation of moving to a much smaller room. I actually viewed this as a concession. My expectation was to get similar, but not better, sound. I've got these paired with a Shindo Cortese, Capitole MKII SE and the Shindo Monbrison with Isoclean powerconditioning. Need the Monbrison for it's phono stage, otherwise, direct is really good. Absolutely, no loss of dynamics and all of the immediacey (sp?). Waiting on some ic's before the Monbrison gets put in the chain. The Capitole direct to the Silverbacks is unbelievable. I've been listening non-stop since I got them on Thursday. They had abt 75 hours of burn-in to them. I've probably added another 50 hours. Again, almost non-stop listening. I've got a large listening space, 1,500 sf open loft. And the 10 wat Cortese is completely able to energize the room with music. I did not expect this at all. So for those who went from horns/electrostats to Devore's, I now understand why. Right now, they've got the transparency of horns but with much better driver integration and imaging. And the bass from these things is great.

I listen to everything. Right now, I've got some electronica chill going (Kruder & Dorfmeister) and I couldn't be happier. Yeah, it might be some post purchase euphoria but, wow, I understand the hype. Everything sounds good with these right now. It's a really strange phenomenon. You can hear all the detail but it doesn't draw attention to itself. I guess that's what it means to have a speaker that's tonally balanced but also very revealing.

I'm not biasing my listening towards any specific genre which is another great sign. Just enjoyably cycling through the collection. I've heard many people describe these as a well-balanced design. I think I know what they mean now.

I have no Devore or Shindo affiliation. Just a happy owner.

Joe
