i too find the news about Vince sad. i didn't even know him as a member of the GD, i was actually more of a fan of the Tubes.I'm 40, a musician by hobby, but i had always dreamed about it being a profession. i've kind of resigned to the fact that i'll never be a musician or songwriter in the "big league", let alone even having my name as a credit on the back cover of an obscure CD. i haven't given up complete hope but even if that never happens i don't think i'd ever kill myself because of it.
obviously mental illness has nothing to do with success or fame as i think almost anyone in my shoes would just be grateful to have that chance of playing with musicians that inspire us. i guess if vince was a plumber, mechanic or lawyer he would have killed himself anyways. just like all the rest of those who took this path. it's very sad and i feel very sympathetic for the family and close friends of the deceased.
