Yeah, I love Spoon and they do have a lot of Beatles in their sound, and Elvis Costello and especially The Jam mixed in too. My favorite is still Girls Can Tell, but I liked this latest one a lot too. More John Lennon than in the past. And some early Who influence too. Getting pretty popular with the songs on TV in commercials and in some shows and such. They record with way too much compression, though. Not a bad sound, but it could be so much better. This latest one is kind of bad, though. I'm a little surprised at your comments since it is such a loud CD, but just goes to show how subjective this all is. Not any worse than most other new pop stuff, but not mastered well and all of the digital clipping spoils what could be a much better sounding disc. Fortunately their recordings are also available on nice vinyl. Click on the link below to see the beginning of "Sister Jack" with pretty severe clipping ....
