Along with Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Ben Webster and John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins is considered one of the greatest tenor saxophonists of the 20th Century. Here are a few selections that may meet your criteria of classic saxophone recordings with equally scrupulous attention to detail and separation of instruments.
Many of these were originally Verve recordings amd later remastered and released by Polygram Records. The Verve recordings were produced by Norman Granz in the 1950's, around the same time as "Saxophone Colossus". Most are considered "Jazz Classics."
