... especially since MTT does not so much as lift a baton within Davies Hall for the entirety of the month. I'd love to hear Salonen conduct Adams' 'Naive and Sentimental Music' (a great piece) or the Debussy/Messiaen concert they're having in LA, but we don't have much like that in SF this year.All of this is a little weird because we still read lots of articles in the national press about how MTT is so connected with the community here and how he does such a great job introducing new music. That *used* to be true. Recent years find MTT conducting less and less often, and fewer new works. Meanwhile, Salonen seems to be going strong...
