...the high or low resolution quality of the format you will use to record your music in:- MP3/AAC (compressed and lossy),
-ALL (only compressed) or
-AIFF (direct copy)
and how much music you want to store.
Higher rez formats use up the battery faster than the lower rez format.
The 60Gb iPod has been replaced with an 80Gb model and all of the new ones have longer battery life than the older ones.
