Love the HIP strings, woodwinds and brass, with music from the Classic period. As of yet, I don't care for the pianoforte, though the different sound can be illuminating at times. Do not like HIP as applied to later music, such as Berlioz and Verdi. The Gardiner Verdi HIP percussion didn't cut it for me, especially the great bass drum thwacks in the Dies Irae. The sound reminded me of an old woman beating dust off a rug on a clothes line.
