Well as I said below I think it is an unanswerable question. Just to illustrate, the pieces mentioned by posters on this thread were among the first western classical pieces I had heard. I hated them all (that is no longer the case). It took years to get over the various stumbling blocks.The OP seems to ask whether there is a litmus-test piece of western music that will decide if a newbie will become a classical fan ...
I think the answer is no. As a newbie I would have failed all the tests mentioned in this thread.
