These are simple devices. Whether they are static field or mechanical dampers might not matter overall, as long as you are covering both bases.Al's do. I'm not sure about those PVC ones posted below.
Mine are simple and I like the looks. They're modeled after those famous cable lifters someone else posted, which are themselves only commercial electrical supply "pin type insulators". Trouble is that the commercial variety are hard to come by, unless you have a contact at the power company!
I made mine out of ordinary porcelain teacups, chopstick holders and ramekins. An upended teacup is filled with sand, bottom under that is the ramekin, on top of teacup is a chopstick rest, on top of chopstick rest is a glob of dried household silicone caulking. All the porcelain pieces are epoxied together. This is a simple job and comes to under $2.50 apiece and is very effective.
But nothing beats Al's recipe, believe me!
