I have been leaving my Sansui au317 on 24/7 for the last 6 weeks or so, thinking that I am saving wear and tear on relays, and components.
This morning I found the dc voltage,1 channel at 8.5v and the other at 21.5v.
It has been 5 yrs or so since I had this serviced, and decided then I would never pay again for adjustments.
The first time,me playing tech, I was able to adjust both channels down to 1.6mv, amp seems to sound better, might be a placebo on my part, hoping for better.
I know that this is not 0v, I am thinking close enough.
I recently watched a you tube video on this procedure, what stuck with me is the claim that dc voltage to your speakers will degrade the speaker coils over time, and the wave form could be clipping.
So as far as leaving the amp on 24/7 I am thinking that when I am not
listening, I should turn the speakers off, and limit the dc offset going to the speakers...sound reasonable?
With the amp on 24/7 the speakers will always see the DC V?
What do you folks think of all this?
