RE: Recommend a Marantz solid state receiver

I have the 2238 posted below this thread. I just had a guy do a complete service on it including dial/meter lights (including the pointer light), pots cleaned, and board cleaned. He was willing to upgrade the caps but they had already been upgraded. Total cost $130.

I'm going to be dead honest with everyone, I don't buy Marantz gear 'specifically' for it's sound (which to me sounds fine), I buy them for nostalgia sake.

Ever since the early '70's (I was 13 I'm 61 now) I'd see all the Marantz receivers lined up in the downtown electronics store and I'd drool excessively over them. Only thing I could afford at the time were the free brochures (and I wish I'd kept them, folks are asking $50 each for them now on fleabay lol)....

The one below is for a 2nd system in my garage/home office area where I have them hooked up to a fairly high efficient speaker (Triangle Comete) so it doesn't take a lot to get them going (the receiver is 38 wpc).
