I appreciate the suggestions. The 2230 looks like a decent option although I was a little surprised by the prices of all the vintage Marantz receivers I looked up on Ebay. The market demand is clearly strong.

I had a vague recollection that my friend had a 2230; however, I see that this model didn't come out until 1972 and my friend had his Marantz in 1970. I am now thinking his must have been a Marantz 22 instead.
