I've done numerous shootouts of common tubes, and the ones that come out as consistently interesting (leaving out DHTs like 26 etc) are the 2C22, which you've tried, the 6P5GT which you know, the 1626 which you may not have tried and which is a very good driver tube or indeed output or even line tube, and the ECC40. The ECC40 has lovely treble - really quite special. I prefer it to the E80CC. Now, this would be a choice for Poinz amp here - right amount of gain.So, my dear Poinz - I'd be happy to send you a pair of ECC40 with sockets if you like - just email me!
