After having built a number of SE amps (both triode and beam tube) I have in mind to build a PP amp in the 6V6 family. To keep the price of my experiment with PP low the 7c5 seems a good bet as they are available NOS for a few dollars as apposed to the $12 or $13 for Russian or Slovak 6V6s. Here's my question: How important is matching going to be in a typical cathode biased PP 6V6 amp? The 7C5s seem to be unavailable in inexpensive matched pairs as they are usually offered by the Ham or surplus type tube vendors. My tube tester is a rudimentary portable Triplet model. Can I use this at all to come close? Should I even be fretting over this or should I just buy a dozen 7C5s and have a go?
Thanks,
Robert
