A schematic would be nice. First, draw a picture of the pinout of each tube as viewed from the bottom and then look at your tube sockets and make sure they are wired correctly. Check again. If they are, put on one of your 78s and take a voltmeter to the input and make sure that isn't grounded. Continue on through volume control, etc until the signal disappears. You should now be within sniffing distance of the problem.Good luck,
