I've been using the technique in some of my designs for a while now and in fact your suggested values are exactly what one of my current Phono stages uses.Remember that inductance will vary slightly with current through the choke and often chokes measure differently to their nominal rating anyhow, so the value of parallel capacitor should be fine-tuned for the lowest ripple across filter cap.
Ripple can be greatly reduced using this method and so far and although BBeck is correct I have not experienced high frequency problems of any kind in several different devices from Phono to SE amps.
