This circuit really isn't letting you do that.
If it allowed you different plate load resistors and a variable cathode resistance, they you'd be in business. Three resistors, 100K, 49.9K and 27K ought to do the job. A 5K pot in the cathode would be the other bit you'd need.
Then you'd have to know how to set everything up. So a couple of meters to show plate Voltage and cathode current would be good. Essentially you create a test bed.
Do you see now? Its simply not enough to change the tube and call it good. You're not hearing tube differences so much as what happens when a tube isn't set to its correct operation point.
