Most silicone adhesive sold on the market is corrosive. Non-corrosive silicone is more costly (~$20/tube) and does not smell like vinegar. Both types have a shelf life of approximately 1 year, even when unopened.There are no issues with hot glue relative to corrosion or component damage that I know of.
