If you plan to ship the amp/preamp, it has to survive UPS. Larger film caps can break their leads off! So they need to be secured and hot melt glue is a poor way to do it- and you can damage the cap!

For circuit boards: The trick is not to cinch the part down particularly tight- just snug. Use the smallest cable ties- they will break if you over-tighten them. Get them just tight enough so they will not fall off. We have holes in our board for the ties so they aren't going anywhere even if they are a little loose around the part. This setup works so well that even Teflon parts are not damaged in the slightest.

For hand-wiring: set up your terminals for the leads of the cap as close to the cap as you can so the leads are completely straight and very short- this will allow for a lot of shipping abuse! We've never had a cap damaged this way either.
