Unless I've misunderstood Drlomu, he's referring to parallel contacts each of which would be sufficient to carry the entire load current. Under those conditions, a simple spark quencher would ensure good electrical longevity, and the multiple contacts would reduce resistance sufficiently to avoid coloring the sound.
