Hum should not be a problem , just use DC filaments . Some DHT's do need shielding but in the end it's worth it and you'll never look back :) I have tried the ECC32 which is identical , apart from pinout , to the ECC31 . Over-rated I'd say , the best thing to do with ECC31 and ECC32 IMO is to sell the things on Ebay and buy some decent 6SN7 or 6J5G insteadcheers
