as long as you can play your system loud enough for your needs it really doesn't matter where your volume control is set. In fact, if you think about it, what the volume control is doing is throwing away gain. Most volume controls at 12 o'clock are about 20 dB down, which means that you're wasting 90% of your signal in the volume control, because only 10% of the signal that is going into the control is coming out.
