Then again put a variac on the primary and load the secondary, see at what maximum primary voltage it is comfortable (doesn't get too hot to touch and doesn't make too much mechanical noise through magnetostiction).
Once you know the voltage in wich it will accept, you will know how useful it is to you. Probably useless.
