You can have two kinds of hum with an amplifier with AC heated DHT's filaments. 120hz from the B+ supply and 60hz from the filaments. The tubes need to be matched so the idle plate current is the same so you don't get 120hz hum. The tubes need to have filaments that are the same (spacing within the tube) so you don't get 60hz hum. Having one filament transformer and a hum pot for each tube will allow you to null out the 60hz hum if the tubes filaments are not right.Tre'
