Home Tape Trail

Reel to reel, cassette and other analogue tape formats.

I'd get it fixed.

Provided it doesn't cost a fortune (like the price of another high-end deck) and the heads are good, I'd get it repaired. I've never owned one, but I have heard very good things about those & it's an impressive looking beast.

I'd tell the repair guy to give it the once-over & give you an estimate first. Have him check the other components inside the deck for wear, including the heads. If he thinks it'll last after it's repaired, and it costs less than say, $150, I'd fix it.

Much more and you could buy a good used Nak, TASCAM 122, or Sony ES. Not a Nak Dragon or something like that, but you could get a great sounding deck, nonetheless.

Good luck!
Bobbo :-)
