Hi.TDK's "AD" tapes are somewhat better than the "D" tapes. The AD tapes were kind of a "premium grade" normal bias tape.
I've never tried the TDK AD, but a few normal bias tapes can sound close to CrO2 quality. Sony's HF-S tapes were probably my favorite normal bias cassette, back when I was still buying them.
