Several years ago, I upgraded two Ampex 351 machines with AG440B servo capstans and Saki Glass Ferrite heads. I was just curious as to what people thought of the Saki heads because I am thinking of resurrecting these projects (one machine is a 2 track 1/4" that I was going to run at 3 3/4 - 7 1/2 - 15 ips and the other a 2 track 1/2" that I was going to run at 7 1/2 - 15 - 30 ips. I had prototyped and used record and playback electronics with the 1/4" machine that had several special features such as a 500khz bias oscillator with 'HX' capability for low tape speeds and playback phase compensation.
