Every tape deck i have owned since the early 1970's has consistently sounded best with Maxell chrome tapes,UDXLII,XLII and XLII-S.Maxell IMO has deeper bass extention warmer sound and a sweeter top end.I always thought the comparable TDK's SA and SA-X were kinda dry and harsh with too bright a high end.And Maxell has better shells and smoother mechanism's.Of course these are just my opinnion's.Cheer's.
