Very cool.

I just got through replacing the (cork) brakes on my Technics RS 1500US, they were very thin, and although they do work with 7" reels, they would often allow enough slip to allow the turn-off switch to engage. At that point I would have to wind a reel up enough to engage the switch.

Now they work fine, although like your Otari, I need to adjust the brake tension.
