I have some of the Maxell MS 90 Pro's,the tape inside the MS pro uses's the same formulation as the XLII just with a heavier duty particle binder which is better for Multitracking.Sound wise the MS does'nt sound any different than XLII just a little more durable and expensive.XLII-S is a bit more sensitive in the high end so as to give better high end response.If you can find them,XLII-S would be the best tape of these three.www.tapeworld.com and www.totalmedia.com has all three tape in stock.Hope this helps.Peace,Jon..
