Hi, Barry:Your technique is an intersting one and something that I have considered trying myself, but using the Alesis ML-9600 rather than a computer, per se. At least the converters in the ML-9600 are great to begin with.
So, I assume that you have done some comparisons with recording straight to 16 bit, 44.1 kHz sampling, versus initially recording to 32 bit, 96 kHz and then downsampling to 16 bit, 44.1 kHz for the purpose of burning a cdr.
What is gained by this? Do you hear any remarkable improvement by first going to high resolution and then converting everything back downwards?
I am not skeptical at all, but just curious.
