Leisure7,I haven't seen the article but there's a lot of conjecture in your posts - not enough information to interpret the pictures and the goal of the experiment is not clear to you. Is it to validate a new measurement method, an experiment on metalization chemistry or an electromigration test? Without knowing, it's a fair leap to question part-part sonic variations - and a futile one. I'm pretty sure all Fabs use objective process control monitoring.
Electromigration can do nasty things to interconnect but it is a condition that should not plague any well designed IC.Regards
