You are right about the copper, but that would be for advanced digital technologies where the equipment cost for a fab approaches a billion dollars or more. The advanced digital processes make lots of very small transistors on a chip, but they cannot withstand more than a couple of volts.Analog fabs tend to run with trailing-edge technology to avoid the huge equipment capital expense, and would likely use well-proven aluminum-alloy metallization schemes.
