I have a lot of respect for the great Richard Feynman and have read many of his books, both non-technical and technical. Science is all about openness and honesty. When experiments are performed, both the procedures and results must be openly published. There will be darts thrown, people will say the experimental procedure is flawed, there is a potential for error. Rather than get all huffy and start saying they also persecuted Galileo, a working scientist will consider the criticism and usually refine his experimental procedure. In the end, after a lot of work, a believable result may be reported. But this is only half the battle. Can the result be independently repeated? If it can't, there will be a lot of doubt about it.Obviously, none of this goes on around here. People don't report experimental procedures or results. I don't really understand why they don't.
