You used a blind methodology, probably as good as was practical.

Were any of these phono cables? Some phono cartridges are sensitive to capacitance.

I'd love to be able to hear differences between all sorts of things--but then, I have really chosen my equipment to be pretty immune to differences in interconnects at line level. My tape decks, tuner, and CDP have low output impedances and my preamp has very high input impedances.

With speaker cables, the resistances may cause level differences as well as FR differences, sometimes enough to be audible. So, I use speaker cables that are large enough so that these should not be audible over the distances involved.
