I am relatively frugal when purchasing my gear, and that is one reason why I focus on finding the maximum value for the audio dollar and frequently use blind testing.I have used BTs (very likely flawed) to select cables. I did hear differences between some cables when matched to various combinations of gear and the results were replicable.
So, I am by no means a complete naysayer on cables. On the other hand, I have also proven (for myself) that in other cases the differences are either slight or non-existent.
From my observations, the differences I have heard seem to correlate closely to large variations in RLC, shielding, and equipment impedance.
