After experiencing what digitization can do to how we perceive music, any parasitic noise is a bad thing, IMHO.... Too often, such components sound great at first listen, then about half hour later, I feel as if I'm about to have a panic attack.... (The worst I've experienced, oddly, was at a live concert where the instruments were mostly computers.)I think of that CD of the Szell Sibelius Two from Tokyo.... There is a passage in the opening movement.... Before digitization, I just marveled over how sweet and perfectly in-tune the strings were, after the brass "fanfare" late in that movement.... When this music is digitized, that sweet "in tune" bliss instead sounds more like noise up there. The sense of pitch is gone.... (I've yet to hear a digital source where that sense of pitch was similar to that of an analog recording.) It's like, am I really listening to the same performance???
