It would be instructive to see if the eye pattern in the base modem from the CD improves. I don't have that equipment in hand at the minute, and getting to it in an average CD player would be a bit tougher than y'all might expect, since that would mean going into a chip to get the signal.More importantly, it would be good to know if there were any uncorrected errors in the PCM data. Now, y'all, I don't mean "unconceiled" I mean "uncorrected".
If there are no uncorrected errors, then there's a basic DAC problem if the output is different.
