1990 article from Robert Harley on digital disc substrate materials...

...and their effect on sound reproduction.

This article discusses the effect freezing has on the polycarbonate substrate of a digital disc and also mention of how another material, Amorphous Poly Olefin, used instead of polycarbonate, yielded different, if not neccesarily better, results.

IF digital data acquisition is as simple as many around here think it is, why does the subject matter of this article, along with products such as the Golden Sound Intelligent Chip and the Nanotec NESPA, indicate that something more MUST be taking place?

In this article Ed Meitner is quoted as saying that what he found regarding substrate condition is easily measurable. Is anyone here at Prop Head equipped to reliably measure this sort of thing?
