Well, us guys at B&K can now measure the difference (or similarities) in any repetitive signals between the loudspeker end and the amplifier end to a near 160dB s/n ratio - full audio - 25KHz bandwidth.Of course that only tells you the amount the cable changes the voltage with time or frequency (essentially the same thing). The impedance of the cable can also effect the performance of the Amplifier or Loudspeaker as a component of the "network".
You have to remember that in sound reproduction, the localization of sound sources does not occur in the cable, amplifier loudspeakers or the room or even the ears. The localization of sound sources occurs only in the brain - along with pitch, source identification, loudness and the many other dimensions of the sound reproduction we love to experience.
