much obliged for the name dropping. the HD-1's are a bit out of my means unless i can get a used pair. now, mackies are interesting. heard some good and some bad about them.. not at all surprising. but for the price tag, i'd like to see what these can really do. Harbeth and Rogers i'm not familiar with. that's good, i was hoping someone would suggest some makers i haven't yet researched. many thanks for the suggestions.
