I can t imagine using a 80 track board for this type of work. No one I know would ever put a mic on each person. A choir sound is made up of how a section blends itself together. You practice this every day. Getting this blend would be next to imposible for a sound guy to duplicate. Feedback probably wouldnt be a problem because each mic would be pretty low, but hitting the solos would be a nightmare. I would use 1 mic, maybe two depending on how wide your groups stand, small diaphram condenser (sm81, AT 4041 etc). I would add one solo mic for each section for soloists to step forward into.

What size venue, whats the acoustic situation at the space? This will also determine how many mics and type and orientation. Where is the band located-how much bleed?
