Re: Available space on a CD

I take your point about not being able to play MP3 format on a CD player. I do have a DVD-player as well, which I'm going to try out when I've managed to make an MP3 CD.
The software I use is Creative Wave Studio to get the records on to the hard disk in *.wav format, and then Philips Write 2 CD (CeQuadrat) program to burn the CD. I don't need to record "CD Quality" (44kHz 16 bits stereo) to do this, for the old recordings I use 22kHz 8 bits mono. The only advantage of doing this is that it reduces saving and editing times and space required on the hard disk, but it makes no difference to the burning time.
I can live with the odd non-playable 74 min. CD, as the blank CD's only cost $0.56 each. I have considerably reduced the rejection rate by putting the blank disk in the burner about 15 mins. before making the recording. This may be due to temperature equalisation, but this is pure guesswork.
