Unfortunatly A7's sound quality is far behind today's cinema sound quality level... and I don't mean just sound pressure level ... Altec A7's level of distorsion + quit old horn and driver / woofer design limited frequense response combination just don't work ... but you have to remember limited band width of those times when it was done (even in the sound source) ... and it did work well with those days and it became as "Industrial Standart" .. they just should of stop manufacturing it after early 70's , but they did continue manufacturing up to early 90's... some people still thinks that, only analog sound + small distorsion sounds good or better than digital track with new speakers and clean undistorted sound ... I have istall even A7's (more then 10 years ago) + todays 3-way systems like EAW, EV and JBL's and I have also measured these with TEF System 20 and difference is huge.... stories are mostly vintage crap ...? Sorry. I actually have pair of A7's in my living room. Big Jack
