I have not done any testing but some people I respect have. They recorded to protools TDM using 888 converters and made a mix which they printed to tape all the fades etc. Then imported these files into DP and pushed play. Should have been the same, it wasnt.

As for firing programmers, adding two tracks isnt just additon by any stretch. Adding audio requires complex math so that the 16 bit full scale file added to a 16 bit full scale file results in a single 16 bit non clipped digital signal.

In the end, I have heard great mixes come out of Protools, DP, analog etc. Good work is good work. It is more of a preference.
